Great Pellet Smoker
This has been a great smoker. I've done a few briskets, ribs, pork butts, chicken thighs and prok chops. It holds temperature well and has been a joy to use. I'd highly recommend purchasing one of you're thinking of getting it. I called customer service for some help and they were super helpful with advise and the lady I spoke with was very friendly and a joy to talk with. I look forward to many more uses. I'm considering buying a lager Z Grill and using this when we go camping.
Excellent Grill
First cook..... automatic success!! I'd never smoked any type of meat before in my life. The little 200A grill did a phenominal job holding temperature and making me look like a hero behind a grill. First two cooks came out amazing, St Louis Ribs and Tri-Tip. Couldn't be happier, will upgrade to a larger model next year I'm sure!
Works brilliantly in so many ways
I have a pretty full life, and while I'd love to tend a fire in an old-school offset barrel smoker, I just don't have that kind of time. Before getting my Cruiser, anything I cooked "low and slow" was done sous vide and then seared to finish. But I wanted more: I wanted honest smoke flavor. The Cruiser totally delivers. I cooked a pork **** sous vide, chilled it, and kept it in the fridge for two days, then fired up the smoker to bring it up to serving temperature. I used a light dusting of powdered egg white, moistened with a spray bottle, to get the surface sticky, then applied my own dry rub. Only took two hours to get the core temp up to 135F, and I had a very moist **** with great smoke flavor. Did something similar with a trimmed brisket point. Sous vide 48 hours at 131, then shocked in an icewater bath for 30 minutes, getting the core temp down to 95F. Debagged, dried, applied dry rub as above, smoked at 180 for 2.5 hours to get the core temp up to 130, wrapped in foil and rested for 30 minutes until the core temp stabilized at 135 or so, sliced and served. I'm about to leave on a 3 month road trip in my RV, and I'm taking the Cruiser with me. I do my major cooking outside the coach via sous vide, and I love that I'll be able to put fabulous finish on meat and chicken without having to fire up a cast iron skillet on the cooktop inside the RV.
Cruiser 200a
Overall has been great so far, just some small items. Will test out brisket soon. Love it so far. Did notice that it came with temp probe outlet, but no probe came with it. I am using the cruiser 200a for camping and think it will be great. I have a 700a for the house for about 3 years and love it…. Thanks yoy
Surprised at how good it is!
I've really enjoyed my experience with the Cruiser! I've got another brand of pellet grill that's a similar size, and I enjoy the 200A a lot more. Biggest reason is with a smaller grill it's nice to be able to lift the lid all the way back and have better access to the cooking area. Since getting it i've made turkey burgers, chicken wings, ribeye and chicken breast on it and every time the meat has come off tasting awesome! I really enjoy the large pellet hopper for how portable the grill is. The only real issue with it is you do have to lift the lid completely to check the level of your pellets, which just makes you lose your heat for a long smoke. But can't expect much else with a small grill like this. I've just been really happy with it, and really enjoy having it on my camping trips that i've been able to use it on so far. Very much recommend this!
Best Ultra Portable Pellet grill
The 200A grill performed well with consistent temperatures. The 8lb hopper is large enough to get 10 hours of continuous low and slow cooking, depending on weather conditions. With a max temperature of 450°F, I can still grill burgers and hot dogs. Build quality is comparable to the Traeger Ranger, and the Z Grills is quite a bit cheaper. If you want a really portable wood pellet grill, the Z Grills Cruiser 200A is an excellent choice.
Z-Grills Portable Pellet Grill Cruiser 200A, Honest Review
Tried out the Cruiser on a Cold January Wisconsin Day! I was impressed! The burn in went great, set to 375 and it got to 380 for an hour. Then reduced temp to 250 and prepared some homemade Meatloaf! Meatloaf on for about 3 hours, temps held very nicely! Sauced it up and increased temp to 325 for about 15 minutes! I was very impressed! The Z-Grills Cruiser portable pellet grill performed well and the Smoked Meat Loaf had an Awesome Smoke Ring! Nicely done by Z-Grills!
Great grill, great warranty/customer service
Bought my first A200 for my RV and liked it so much that we bought another for home. Had a problem with the digital controller on one of them and sent the purchase information to customer service and had new part in a few days. Grill itself is just fantastic. For RVing, can't say enough good things about it. Compact size, lighter than almost all of the competition, half the price of many of them and they stand behind their product. Because of the smaller size, pellet consumption is very low. Just great.
Cruiser
I have used it three times so far. It is wonderful. It will get pretty hot too. I have had it up to 402 degrees and climbing. Very pleased with my purchase.
So Far So Good
I received the grill earlier than promised. Assembly was very easy. I’ve grilled on it 5 or 6 times, so far, and it’s perfect. I’m looking forward to years of great smoked meats and vegies.
